Diptendu Maity is from the coastal town of Contai, West Bengal, India. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Midnapore College (Autonomous) in 2022. He then completed his Master’s degree in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in 2024. During his Master’s studies, Diptendu conducted research under the mentorship of Professor Subhas Chandra Pan, focusing on asymmetric synthesis. His work culminated in the publication of “Catalytic Asymmetric De Novo Synthesis of Chiral Pyrroles Through Desymmetrizing Oxidative [3+2]‐Cycloaddition and the Van Leusen Reaction.” In Fall 2024, Diptendu joined the University of Florida as a graduate student in the Department of Chemistry, where he is pursuing his Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Kaibo Feng. Outside of his academic pursuits, Diptendu enjoys playing football and cricket, swimming, watching cricket matches, and listening to music.
